To Michael Gibbons
From Philip Virgo as Acting Multi-Scheme Administrator for Vauxhall Ward
Thank you for applying to start a Neighbourhood Watch scheme for Vauxhall Walk. You submitted two applications. I deleted one (which used a TRA address) as a duplicate. I apologise if that was a mistake because that was the address you would prefer to use
I am a Lambeth-based volunteer serving as Development lead for the Lambeth Neighbourhood Watch Association. I am also acting Membership Support Administrator (MSA for short) for Vauxhall Ward.
It is the role of an MSA to help your application journey with Neighbourhood Watch.
As part of the approval process, we need to arrange a short chat with you before your scheme can be approved. While this can be done in whichever way suits you best, it is usually easiest to do this via a video call such as Zoom. Please let me know which days and times are likely to be most convenient for you over the next month. Before 14.00 is usually most convenient for me as evening tends to be much busier for NHW business.
This conversation helps us support you properly, answer any questions you may have, and make sure everything is in place for your scheme to succeed.
I will ask:
I will also ask if you are already in touch with your Ward Police Team (Vauxhall@met.police.uk) and Safer Neighbourhood Panel and can probably help with an introduction if you are not.
In the area you have marked for the group there are more than a dozen residents registered for Neighbourhood Watch. They live in Ardens House, Arms House, Arrowsmith House, Coverly Point, Jameson House, Kennedy House, Mountain House or otherwise on Tyler Street and Vauxhall Walk.
I can send them a message inviting them to contact you for a meeting but, under GDPR, cannot send you their contact details. You will, of course, have access to these when you are approved.
It will make much better use of your time and mine if you have already read How to start a Neighbourhood Watch scheme - step by step . In LAMBETH most groups work in partnership with Street/Estate TRAs which do most of what is described. A few do it themselves.
From the e-mail address in the other application title, I am assuming that this group is likely to be a small team from one or more TRAs to handle liaison with Police, Council and Housing Managers (Including via the Safer Neighbourhood Panel) on reporting, intelligence and community safety matters.
Please note that we can’t approve your application until this chat has taken place. If we don’t hear from you by the end of October your application may be put on hold or closed.
If your application is approved, you’ll be able to invite neighbours to register, be officially registered as a scheme and be part of the Neighbourhood Watch family, and start making a real difference in your local community.
Please reply to this email by 13th November to let us know your preferred way to chat and your availability. | ||
